About

As an Illustrator and tattooer, my practice revolves around the exploration of identity, emotion, and the enduring connection between the human experience and visual representation. I believe that art, whether on canvas or skin, serves as a powerful language through which we communicate.

In portraiture, I seek to capture not just a likeness, but the subtle expressions, the stories told in a gaze, the unspoken truths behind a smile or a frown. Each face is a map of life lived, uncovering layers of character and narrative.

Tattooing, for me, is an extension of this portraiture. Tattoos are deeply personal and permanent, yet they are also communal, often celebrated and worn as symbols of personal transformation, memory, or belief. I approach each tattoo as a collaboration, working closely with my clients to craft meaningful, timeless pieces that reflect both their individuality and the shared human experience.

Equally important to me is the technical process of creating art. The challenge of mastering technique and refining my craft is a constant source of inspiration. The precision of line work, the balance of light and shadow, the interaction with materials—these are elements that excite me and drive my artistic practice. Tattooing, in particular, demands a blend of skill, concentration, and an intuitive understanding of anatomy and the skin’s texture. The ability to bring a design to life, with permanent ink, on a living canvas, is both an art and a science.

In painting, I am especially drawn to the glazing technique—a process of layering translucent, thin coats of paint to build depth, luminosity, and subtle tonal transitions. This approach allows for a rich, almost ethereal quality to the work, where the colors beneath the surface subtly influence the layers above. Glazing requires patience and precision, as each layer must be applied carefully, requiring time to dry fully before moving forward. It’s a slow and deliberate process, but the gradual buildup of color and form is deeply satisfying and allows me to achieve a sense of realism and life in my portraits.

In both tattooing and painting, I view my work as a conversation with the viewer or wearer—a way to not only preserve identity but to elevate it. Art has the power to immortalize and to communicate in ways words often cannot, which is why I am endlessly inspired by the human form and its capacity for expression.

After my time in college I was accepted to apprentice under Kevin Kerr, owner of Flesh Mechanics. In my apprenticeship, I was learning to add more tools to my creative belt. Tattooing was always a medium of visual communication that had interested me. In tattooing, communication with the client is key, as well as working towards a clean and readable design that the artist and client both love.
